Wednesday Nesting
Oct 28, 2009 Posted by Sarah Darcy | FILED UNDER ... NESTING | 5 comments
As I'm getting more and more into decorating + designing our newlywed nest, I thought it would be fun to integrate that passion into my blog and share fun finds, DIY projects, house inspiration and lots more with you every Wednesday. Most posts will be tied to weddings in some way but I thought it might be a welcome change to expand CB and sometimes chat about the joys of feathering our married {or soon-to-be married} nests. :o)
For the first installment, I thought I'd start out with a little house inspiration fit for the fall season. It's the hauntingly beautiful Victorian home from the movie Practical Magic.
I loved all the nooks and crannies and history that went along with the enchanting house and I was more than a little sad to find out that the house doesn't actually exist - it was built for the movie and promptly torn down after production ended. Luckily, I can visit it whenever I like by just popping the dvd in ... but wouldn't it have made the most phenomenal backdrop for a ceremony?! What's your favorite movie house?Read more about the Practical Magic house here.

New Fall Finds for sale at CB Vintage!
There are a few new additions to the CB Vintage shop this week including four handsome trophies that were all scouted in and around the beautiful city of New Orleans. They would look absolutely divine holding fresh flowers and acting as centerpieces at a reception or at home.
There's also a great new collection of vintage books - all with delightful covers and titles. Perfect for stacked centerpieces or colorful decor.
The rhinestone crown and scepter pin is among my favorites of the new additions. Undeniably whimsical, it would be the perfect touch for a wedding clutch.
Check out the shop for more gems - costume jewelry, card holders, blue mason jars, scotty dogs, etc. More great finds are always coming in so make sure to stop in often!

Beautiful new looks at Maida Vale
Oct 26, 2009 Posted by Sarah Darcy | FILED UNDER ... ON PAPER | 2 comments
One of my favorite wedding stationery designers, Heather of Maida Vale, just re-launched her site and is offering a slew of new designs {loving the Wren line above!}, products and options ... and, of course, I just had to share with you, my dear friends!
Among the best new offerings is Maida Vale's brand new "letterpress for less." Every design is now available in luxurious letterpress or affordable offset printing, at either 1- or 2-ink colors. For 100 sets, offset printing starts at $4.64 per invitation, and letterpress printing starts at $7.85 per invitation - how great is that? And the price per invitation decreases significantly as the quantity increases.

First of all, can you believe this venue isn't tucked away in the English countryside but rather right here in our backyard in Atlanta?! It's actually the Atlanta History Center -- how fabulous is that?! See more photos from this dreamy wedding here.

I am in love with the sheer elegance of this cake ... The icing details seem to mimic the design and beading of the bride's beautiful dress.
What do you think about letting your wedding gown inspire your cake design?

My wedding dress, bolero + veil for SALE! *SOLD*
Oct 20, 2009 Posted by Sarah Darcy | FILED UNDER ... CB VINTAGE , FASHION , OUR WEDDING , SOUTHERN CHARM | 6 comments
It's true! I have decided to sell my beautiful and beloved wedding dress, bolero and veil. While it was a tough choice, I have to admit it seems a waste for such a gorgeous frock to hang in my closet and receive no love while another bride could be enjoying it on her big day!
So, if you're interested, I've created some boards below that showcase almost all angles of the ensemble, as well as detail shots. Peruse at your leisure and if you still find yourself interested or with questions, shoot me an e-mail. Serious inquiries only, please!

ABOUT
The dress is a strapless, tea-length style and is made of ivory Alençon lace {a lace with a floral design on a sheer net background}. The lace is hand-beaded with pearls, clear glass beads and clear sequins. The dress has a natural waist with a satin belt and the skirt is lined with 8 layers of tulle. It is a true size 4 and the style is no longer available in bridal salons. *SOLD*
The bolero jacket is a custom-made piece. It was constructed by a hired seamstress and features a scalloped neck and three-quarter length sleeves. It was lovingly and heavily hand-beaded by my very talented mother who spent over 2,500 hours hand-beading pearls, glass beads and sequins in extremely intricate patterns to achieve the couture look that we couldn't find in the southeast. The beading on the bolero is beyond stunning in person and matches the dress to a tee. A truly exquisite piece. There are also clear clasps {making them invisible} on both the bolero and the dress to secure the bolero in place. They worked perfectly on my wedding day. *SOLD*
The blusher veil is simple and lovely. It is made of a single layer of ivory tulle and has a hair comb to ensure that it stays in place. *SOLD*
All pieces are in pristine condition with no spots, stains or evidence of wear.

PRESS
My bridal attire has been featured in both prestigious magazines and popular blogs and I have received so many wonderful compliments about my oh-so-classic look since the big day. Here are a few sweet highlights:
- InStyle Weddings loved the look and said I had "incredible bridal style."
To see the full feature, click here. - My wedding graced the pages of the uber-stylish Australian magazine, Wedding Style Guide this past spring. Here is an excerpt regarding my wedding day attire from the 4-page spread:
"The bride was a true classic beauty, every detail carefully planned. Her lace bolero jacket was tailored for Sarah and lovingly hand-beaded by her mother."To see the full feature, click here. - My wedding and attire is also featured in the current Irish wedding glossy, B Magazine, in a 5-page spread. Click here to see the full feature.

Real Wedding: Modern Glam meets Backyard Chic
When I saw a sneak peek of Mike and Kristen's wedding on Look Photography's {fabulous} blog, I immediately e-mailed Vicki to find out more and to get an insider's look at the beautiful, very outside-the-box-style wedding. Once I saw the photos, I knew I had to share ... so scroll down for more eye candy and a short interview with the lovely bride ...
CB: Describe your wedding style in 5 words or less:
Kristen: Classic. Informal. Personal. Spectacular, Spectacular.
CB: Tell me what made you decide to have an intimate, backyard wedding.
K: We wanted a location that was personal to us – where we would always be reminded of the day and the love of not only our friends and family – but for each other. We bought the house knowing we wanted to be married at home – it exceeded our expectations and while we thought it might bring additional stress to planning – it was surprisingly peaceful and exciting.
CB: What is your favorite memory of the day?
K: Standing together at dark watching the sky lanterns take off and our guests illuminated by the the candle light, light on the bars, and light of the lanterns. It was as if time stood still for that moment.
CB: Favorite detail?
K: We loved having our friends play our wedding music. We loved seeing each other for the first time in our own back yard. We loved having the event feel like many different moments and that it kept changing with different sounds, light, food, and signature drinks. It was spectacular.

I love how cozy the backyard setting was and the incredibly glamorous vibe it took on after the sun went down:{All images by Look Photography}
